A+W are a "fortune" come true...

In 2008, Anne goes on a solo missionary trip to Thailand. While at a Buddhist cave temple in Kanchanaburi, she picks out a numbered fortune. Translated by a newfound friend, it reveals that she would soon meet the man with whom she would spend the rest of her life. On her way back home from Thailand, Anne stops over in New York to visit loved ones. Will is also visiting. By chance, they meet, and a spark is lit, but although it is the right place, it is not (yet) the right time.

In the years following, Will and Anne go through their own share of losses, triumphs, broken hearts, and acquired dreams. Will quits his job to travel (and squat) with his best friend all over the world. He falls in love with different cultures, sunrises/sunsets, and photography. Anne teaches Literature/Language Arts to 6th-8th graders and continues to work towards being an administrator. She falls in love with her work in education and different ministries, hula dancing and island hopping, and crossing things off of her bucket list (like skydiving!). 

In 2011, almost exactly three years later (Will still in NY & Anne still in SF), Will posts a "Skydive above Everest" article and unknowingly rekindles a past flame. Messages turn into nightly phone calls that last beyond the rising sun. After a couple of months of nonstop communication and many sleepless nights, Will courageously books a flight to SF. They have their official "first date" together at Chrissy Fields - the same special place where Will asks Anne to spend the rest of her life with him on February 14, 2014.

Shortly after the engagement, Anne's newfound friend from above learns of the engagement and lightheartedly asks, "So, is this the man from your fortune?"

And to that, Anne delightedly responds..."YES."
